I am a senior at Washburn University and I am working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media with an emphasis in Writing and Publishing, Electronic Media, and Public Relations. I am also working toward a minor in Business. I am from Fort Collins, Colo. But I am currently living in Topeka, Kan.
I have gained great experience from reporting for WUCT News, our on-campus news show, as well as working as the Sports Editor for the student paper, the Washburn Review. I have also produced segments for @Washburn, a student-created entertainment news show. I completed an internship at the Fort Collins Soccer Club, a nonprofit youth sports organization. There I designed advertisements, logos and tournaments programs for them, as well as gained valuable customer service experience.
I was a member of the Washburn women’s volleyball team, a starter all four years and a two-time All American. I am also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
After graduation, I hope to be hired in the mass media field. My career goal is to work for a professional sports team’s media department.

ReplyDelete1. WU Cheerleading - Why is there always a new team? Who is in charge? Did it used to play a bigger role at Washburn?
2. Superfans - The multiple fans at Washburn that are at every game and every practice.
3. Soccer Fundraiser - Campus wide dodgeball tournament. Why does the soccer team have to fundraise so much? Money and girls sports...
4. Sports teams community service - A new competition between teams to see who can do the most community service.
5. Is Hays really leaving the MIAA? If so, is anyone else going to join? What are the reasons for teams leaving and joining, etc.

Story Ideas WEEK TWO:
ReplyDelete1. The new SID, maybe a profile on him or something.
2. Student Athlete Support Services, a "program" the counseling department offers to student athletes, but not many athletes take advantage of it.
3. SID office in general and all the awards they have gotten over the years.
4. Is the ecomonic crisis affecting ticket sales at athletic events?
5. How does the athletic department keep up with all it's scholarships in the econommic crisis? Will any of them ever be taken away or reduced?
11. Lack of student support/spirit at athletic events.

18. Baseball team isn't doing too well, why is that? Were they good in the past?
19. Athletics 5-year review is coming up, Loren Ferre.
20. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) - how the club is fun, by who, etc.
